Detection System for Critical Infrastructure Protection

The BioFlyte z200 comprehensive opioid and bio-aerosol detection system is intended for continuous operation in critical infrastructure, operating unattended for months at a time. The system includes a UV LIF trigger sensor and a MALDI time-of-flight mass spectrometer for threat identification. Once triggered, the autonomous threat identification process proceeds, which includes aerosol sampling, sample preparation, sample analysis and data analysis. Where possible, the BioFlyte z200 is configured to communicate with the building management system to protect unexposed sections of the building by actively controlling the ventilation system. The system automatically resets itself for the next trigger, and is designed for rapid integration into third-party command and control systems and architectures.

A forensics sample can be collected as a laboratory reference sample using an (optional) fully-integrated dry filter unit. The sampler is activated when the trigger signal is received.

BioCapture® z750

Handheld Air Sampler

The BioCapture® z750 was created to provide CBRN Defense Forces and Emergency Response Teams with a high-performance handheld sampler. The BioCapture® z750 is designed around a proven Dry Filter Unit (DFU) technology that has been in use worldwide for decades. The electret filter design incorporated into the z750 has extensively validated sample extraction protocols, and is compatible with PCR, immunoassay, and fieldable mass spec instruments, as well as analytical methods associated with laboratory confirmation.

The BioCapture® z750 retains many of the key features of previous hand held collectors, such as ease of operation in Level A suits, elimination of sample carryover and ability to field decontaminate. For multiple tests in the hot zone, simply lift up the cover, insert a new filter cartridge, close the cover and start the sample collection.

A new feature incorporated into the BioCaputure® z750 is an option to sample at the instrument’s maximum possible flow rate of 500 lpm. When set to Max Flow Mode, ambient air is sampled at 500 lpm for a period of 5 minutes. Using this mode, an operator can maximize the concentration factor of a sample in an event with the potential for airborne biological agents. This new feature, not available in previous BioCapture® models, allows the first responder to optimize the initial response by collecting a maximum sample concentration in the shortest amount of time.
